Custom Fields in Joomla is the new holy grail of customizing the look of your Joomla content. Its power lies in displaying prepared info into articles that can be specified by the author in all cases.

The way to add a Custom field is quite easy.

Since version 3.7.1, Custom Fields has been integrated into Joomla's core installation, with the abilities to add an additional custom field to its core sections including:

  • Articles (in this article)
  • User profiles
  • Contact forms

This is the way to open the Custom Fields administration, go Content > Field Groups, to create a field group. If you only have one field, you don't have to create a "Field Group", but it's an easy way to categorize your fields, and also an easy way to add a group of fields in an article. You then go Content Fields to go directly to the fields admin page.

You will click New to enter "Field Groups" You can then apply a Group Title for your Field Group, and click "Save & Close".
